Every chair in the company
Three corporations, eight rungs, 2,046 capped chairs and 3 corner offices — against 3,332 hireable badges. Chairs are capped per corporation: 682 each, and no amount of money adds one.
Live. 0 badges are on payroll at Analyst or above, holding 0 of 2,046 capped chairs. Interns are not counted: they hold no chair and take no salary.
Row width is the cap, fill is occupancy. Intern and Analyst are hatched because an uncapped rank cannot be full — and Intern carries no headcount of its own: it is the rank every badge starts at and returns to on transfer, so the indexer counts chairs from Analyst up. Counts are read fresh on every request.
Challenges in flight
A challenge is the only route into a full rank. 72 hours, one named badge, the same deposit from both sides.
The same chart, as a ledger
Filtered to Tomcat Motors. Caps are per corporation and identical across all three.
Chairs run out. Within a month of launch the VP row fills and the only way up is a Boardroom Challenge against a named holder — this is a property of the design, not a bug in it. Two things soften it: the deposit is calibrated at 40% of the target rank's promotion fee so a challenge is expensive for both sides, and a Reorg adds 10% more chairs at every capped rank once cumulative volume clears the owner-set threshold. Interns and Analysts are uncapped, so nobody is ever locked out of being hired — only out of a chair.
